Perez wins MVP as West tops East, 5-0

BOURNE, Mass. – When the season began for Ryan Perez (Judson), he was a temporary pitcher for the Harbor Hawks. Meaning, his stay on the Cape was supposed to be brief. But on Sunday night he was named MVP for the winning Western Division All-Star team.

Perez entered the game in the top of the third inning during the West’s 5-0 win over the East in the Cape League All-Star game at Doran Park. He quickly struck out the side. The first batter he faced was Brewster’s Mikey White. Perez pitched from the left side to White, striking him out swinging. The next victim was Yarmouth-Dennis’ Jordan Tarsovich, who also went down swinging. Perez got that strikeout from the right side. Then Perez went back to his left arm. Harwich’s Ian Happ worked a full count before he swung through a high fastball from Perez.
